  What Gets PodCasted?

  • A media file gets PodCasted.

  • A media file is a digitized audio (typically an MP3) file or a digitized video (typically an MP4) file. There are also other audio and video file formats.

  • At its lowest level, a PodCast lets you play an audio or a video file.
How Do You Play a PodCast?

  • You can play a PodCast with your computer using any software that will play the audio or video file format.

  • Software packages that can play most PodCasts and come pre-installed on most home and office computers are:

    • Apple iTunes/QuickTime

    • Microsoft Windows Media Player

  • There are many other media players that will play PodCasts.

  • You can also download a PodCast file from your computer to a portable MP3 player such as an iPod or a Zune or any other brand of player with a stupid name. Then you can play the PodCast with the portable MP3 player.
So what? What Makes a PodCast Any Different From Playing a Regular MP3 or MP4 file?

  • Find the "Current Feed Content" section. Here you will find a list of the currently available PodCasts. To play a PodCast, find the PodCast you want to play and click on "Play Now" or the "Play PodCast" Button.

  • The feed page keeps track of the PodCasts, always placing the latest PodCast at the top of the list.

  • You can subscribe to a PodCast using iTunes or Windows Media Player. Click here for instructions. After you have subscribed to a PodCast, iTunes or Windows Media Player will automatically download the latest media file from the PodCast feed.
